Scoutograms

Jere Coughlin of Blythe has sent in his application for Eagle Scout badge.  Jere completed his last requirements since returning from camp.  This makes the first Eagle Scout application to come from a scout who began his work since the organization of the Riverside County Council.

David MacClyment of Troop No. 3 states in a letter to headquarters that he is having a fine time at Long Beach.  He has spent some time at the Boy Scout headquarters and with scouts who have done a great deal of work in the merit badge line.  While at Long Beach MacClyment will take some instructions on life-saving and may try to qualify for the badge.

Troop No. 3 of Riverside is endeavoring to have every scout attain the rank of first class by January 1, 1922. This troop is now full and every patrol is in charge of a first class scout. This troop will probably have two Eagle Scouts by the first of the year. Scoutmaster Mosier reorganizes the troop every three months, the highest offices going to the scouts with the highest ranks.

Many scouts are taking vacations but there are a good number of boys who are not only working but passing scout tests as well. Headquarters receives merit badge applications for scout badges of various kinds every day.

Scouts are good workers! Many business men are employing scouts during the summer vacation period. Headquarters is very glad to hear from a number of these business men that the boys are performing their work splendidly. Scout training shows in work as well as in life.

Several scouts accompanied Mr. Taylor and the Y.M.C.A. boys to Forest Home. The trip was made on bicycles, and three days were spent in camping out.

Scoutmasters Mosier and Gage had charge of the gates at the ball game played by the Kiwanians and the Bankers Thursday.

Scout headquarters are hoping to get all the merit badge and bar pins mailed out next week. Camp records have been all checked up and the merit badges are now ready to be sent out. Riverside scouts are requested to call at headquarters for theirs.

The Arlington troop under Scoutmasters Harris and Babcock are not allowing summer to interfere with their work in any way. Their meetings are largely attended and the interest high. Mr. Babcock’s troop takes swimming instructions every two weeks. The membership in these troops in nearly full.

The Highgrove troop under the leadership of Assistant Scoutmaster Pinigree is doing good work and every week finds a number of scouts who have qualified for scout badges.
