Ashie Lodge # 436 was created in 1950, serving San Diego County Council # 49. They were the twenty-fifth Lodge to be formed in the State of California.
The Lodge Totem was the Thunderbird and the Lodge Symbol was the Sandpainting, both prominently placed on their pocket flaps and patches.
Ashie won the Section W4B Niganet Award 3 Times (1974, 1979, 1984), the Section W4B Lodge Excellence Award 6 Times (1975, 1976, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989), and the Section W4B Spirit Award once (1982).
Two Ashie Lodge members were elected Western Region Chief, Michael Southall (1989) and Lou Monville III (1991).
Maury Clancy, born in North Dakota, and who served on the National OA Committee and the namesake of the Maury Clancy Indian Campership Fund, was Lodge Adviser of Ashie for 9 years.
Ashie Lodge merged with Pang Lodge # 532 in late 1992. It was announced at the 1992 Section W4B Conclave that the selected Lodge name would be “Tiwahe.” It’s successor Lodge, Tiwahe Lodge # 45, continues to exist today.
