Deanna was a groundbreaking leader in the Order of the Arrow. She was the first female in Wiatava Lodge to receive the Vigil Honor, the first female Section Adviser in the country, and the second female to receive the Distinguished Service Award.
In addition, she was a rare recipient of the Silver Fawn, a distinction given to female Scouters before the Silver Fawn was given to men or women.
