The Santa Lucia Area Council served the greater communities of San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria. It 1939, it changed its name from the Central Coast Counties Council.
In 1994, it merged with the Mission Council to form Los Padres Council.

1939, 1940, and 1941: D.E. McKinlay was Scout Executive, with San Luis Obispo as the council city. 1
1940: M.P. Bushnell becomes Scout Executive2.

1943: M.P. Bushnell hired as Assistant Director of Health and Safety with the National Council3.
1946: Ed Saxton become Scout Executive. James W. Mitchell is Assistant Executive4

1981 – 1985: Marty Latimer serves as Scout Executive.
1985: Richard Schmidt becomes Scout Executive. He would leave in 1991 to become an associate director in the National office.
1991: Tim Chamberlain becomes Scout Executive on July 17
1994: Merges with the Mission Council to form Los Padres Council.
