• Howard was named 2009 Conservation Hero of the Year by Field & Stream magazine, and appeared on the cover of the October 2009 magazine. He became a member of Trout Unlimited in 1989, and has been a trustee with the organization since 2010, with a focus on California’s Golden Trout Wilderness.
