Hubert Eaton Scout Reservation

The property of Hubert Eaton Scout Reservation began its life as The Lake Arrowhead Scout Camps. The first resident director was George Aunger (1908 – 1977). He is also the author of High Adventure : The Story of the Lake Arrowhead Scout Camps.

Eventually, due to a generous donation, the camp would become known as Forest Lawn Scout Reservation.

With another donation, the name would change to its current name.

The property has held a number of Sub-Camps:

  • Camp Bighorn (now Circle X Ranch at Bighorn – original Circle X Ranch was sold).
  • Camp Cedar (Name changed to Pitchess, and changed again to Camp Pollock)
  • Camp Pepperdine
  • Northrup Family Camp (added later, a supplemental camp added at the time for women and families)

1949: Original camp.

1961: Firebird Lake was built. Because Camp Helendade, whose totem was the firebird, began in 1961, and where the Firebird Trail led to Camp Bighorn, this is probably related.

Also included the Golden Arrowhead Trail program, purported to be 75 miles from Forest Falls to camp.
