Lazy K Ranch (1976)

Lazy K Ranch was a camp that was briefly owned by California Inland Empire Council. It appears to have been originally donated in 1976, primarily to provide a camping facility for events by High Desert Scouts.

The Ranch was originally a horse ranch with a farm that produced hay/alfalfa. The ranch appeared to be 160 acres at 26511 Community Blvd, that seems to be an Altadena plant today.

The Council hired a sharecropper for one year, but bad seed apparently resulted in a crop failure. There were two wells on site. Part of the land was victim to a Mojave River flash flood. The Council apparently was paying about $600 per month for standby electricity.

The Ranch House would eventually be subdivided from the rest of the property, and was divested rather quickly.

Thank you to Phil Clark and Kevin Hartjen for details on this camp.
