Area U existed from 1942 until the establishment of the 12 Region System1.
The first Area U Conference in 1945 was for the entire area. Thereafter, Area U was split into Sections. The geographical territory that is covered here was Area U Section A, beginning in 1946, that roughly coincided with what became Area 12-A.
As the Order of the Arrow began to expand rapidly to 26 Areas, Area U was reorganized and was split into an Area 12-A, a predecessor to the 1949 introduction of Area 12-A and the first 12-A conference in 1951.
