1997 Section W4A Conclave

The Conclave theme was “An Adventure Of The Spirit.” Attendance was 373. The weather was pleasant and dry. The training received many good comments and was based on a basketball team theme. There were at least 32 sand paintings and a great Saturday night Pow Wow with at least 38 dancers.

Special guests included National Chief Chris Rogers, Western Region Josh Souza, past Region Chiefs, Tony Fiori, Jim Lewis, and Ryan Mecham, National Committee Members Esten Grubb and Bobby Rainwater, outgoing and incoming Area 4 Advisers Jack Hess and Steve Bradley Sr., Region Committee members Tom Tabb and Steve Silbiger, current and past Section W4B Chiefs, Tracy Schultze, Alan Kay, and Cody Barnett, as well as Section W4B Associate Adviser Mike Philbrook.

The Outstanding Lodge Award was won by Topa Topa Lodge # 291. The Pre-Ordeal, Brotherhood, and Vigil Trophies were all won by Topa Topa Lodge # 291. The Most Spirited Lodge was Siwinis Lodge # 252. The Flight of the Thunderbird award was shared by Topa Topa Lodge # 291 and Siwinis Lodge # 252. The Camp Promotion award went to Yowlumne Lodge # 303. Siwinis Lodge # 252 won the Conclave Fair.
